weather hazards

WEATHER HAZARDS For this assignment, I chose to research the effects of Dust storms.  In one article I came across discussed just how susceptible Airplanes are to the forces of nature.  From Shaikh (2023) spoke about how Dust Storms are particularly common in parts of Asia and the Middle East.  Dust storms can cause an array of challenges for the overall operation of aircraft and support services. One such difficulty is decreased visibility.  While pilots are able to use IFR over VFR, dust storms can still make it dangerous during takeoff, landing, and taxiing when it is necessary to know if the path is clear.  Last thing a pilot needs is to collide with another aircraft while taxiing on a parking apron or to collide with other support equipment.  Additionally, the decreased visibility can hinder air traffic control to ensure the safe operation and planning of routes to assist in avoiding collisions.  Luckily, in extreme cases aircraft are delay...

Aviation security TSAs problems

TSA has a problem  The main issue with airports is the slow checkpoint even with the 2 million dollar CT scan upgrades.  In this article, two issues are being discussed, the TSA line length and the unnecessary use of CT scanning machines. The initial process of TSA begins when you buy your ticket and your personal information is checked against records to see if you are safe to fly. When you arrive at the airport, there are multiple surveillance cameras for added security and trained dogs to sniff out explosives or unusual items. When entering the TSA checkpoint for bags, the officers there match your ID to your face and any characteristics, and on top of this there are scanners to detect foreign objects or metals. Then on the flights, there are armed pilots, air marshals and secure doors to prevent any time of hijacking  The first issue with airports is the slow checkpoint even with the 2 million dollar CT scan upgrades. A majority of the bags (60%) were pulled aside for...

Ethics within aviation

How harmful is aviation to the environment The industry of aviation has grown into something millions of people have come to depend on for their day to day lives. When it starts to effect people in a way of not being able to get them from where they are to where they need to be there is a problem. The effect that aviation has had on climate change is a silent problem that many people do not think about. This causes climate change which effects our environment in a very negative way. The factor we will be focusing on is how non-co2 and co2 effects our environment. "Airplanes burn fossil fuel which not only releases CO2 emissions but also has strong warming non-CO2 effects due to nitrogen oxides (NOx), vapour trails and cloud formation triggered by the altitude at which aircraft operate."( Transport and Environment. 2022)  Though you would think non-co2 would be friendlier than co2 emmissions it is just as bad. To try to midigate effects of this aircrafts we can use cleaner...
